Our ward

The strength of this department is the continuous training of staff: professionals who participate in cycles of meetings, courses and training.

The surgical department has three major operating rooms for more complex operations and two minor operating rooms for less complex operations.

The main interventions concern the consequences of trauma, in particular road traffic traumas and the resolution of hernias, acute abdominal conditions,cysts and tumors (often diagnosed in an advanced stage).

Due to the importance of training in the surgical field, on May 28, 2018 the St. Gaspar Hospital entered into an agreement with the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital according to which the Italian staff will train and instruct Tanzanian professionals with therapeutic, diagnostic and theatre assistance courses, in particular in the field of plastic and maxillofacial surgery.
