OUR WARD

The St. Gaspar Hospital in Itigi has a large General Medical ward where pathologies that require urgent or detailed medical evaluation are admitted. Sixty-four beds are available in this ward.

Generally, the most common pathologies are respiratoy and gastroitestinal infectios, malaria, anaemia, non communicable diseases such as hypertention, renal and cardiac diseases.

The department also has a reserved wing for isolation and control of infectious diseases in which all patients affected by infectious diseases are hospitalized. These diseases cannot usually be managed on an outpatient basis. They often require high diagnostic and therapeutic skills and commitment.

In this ward, malaria, which still represents the main cause of hospitalization and death, is often treated. Other diseases include typhoid fever, meningitis and tuberculosis.
