The department also has a reserved wing for isolation and control of infectious diseases in which all patients affected by infectious diseases are hospitalized. These diseases cannot usually be managed on an outpatient basis. They often require high diagnostic and therapeutic skills and commitment.
In this ward, malaria, which still represents the main cause of hospitalization and death, is often treated. Other diseases include typhoid fever, meningitis and tuberculosis.
