OUR WARD
The paediatric department carries out activities of treatment, prevention and education on pathologies of patients in the ward which admits children aged 0-12 years
The ward has 150 available beds, which are about 50% of the total hospital beds. This is because over the years it has become increasingly clear that children are still the most vulnerable in these lands.
Although malaria, malnutrition and burn injuries are still the most common problems and malaria and pneumonia remain as the two main reasons for childhood death, doctors in this ward, thanks to their global training, deal with the most desparate problems. In addition respiratory, urinary and gastrointestinal tracts infections also predominate. Often these diseases are caused by poor hygiene, misinformation or by the extreme poverty in which most families live here.
